Ծնվել է 1952թ. սեպտեմբերի 26-ին Երևանում: 1970-1976թթ. ավարտել է Երևանի Գեղարվեստա-թատերական ինստիտուտի գեղանկարչության բաժինը, գեղանկարիչ-մանկավարժի դիպլոմով: 1976-1977թթ. ծառայել է սովետական բանակում: 1979-ից դասավանդել է նույն ինստիտուտում: 1990թ. արժանացել է դոցենտի` իսկ 1992-ին՝ պրոֆեսորի կոչման: 1982 թվականից ԽՍՀՄ նկարիչների միության անդամ է,ինչպես նաև Յունեսկօ-ի պրոֆեսիոնալ նկարիչների միջազգային միության անդամ: 1993-1998թթ. հանդիսացել է Հայաստանի նկարիչների միության գեղանկարչության բաժնի վարիչ: 1990-1994թթ. եղել է Երևանի Գեղարվեստա-թատերական ինստիտուտի ուսումնա- գիտական գծով պրոռեկտոր: 1994թ.-ից մինչ այսօր Գեղարվեստի պետական ակադեմիայի ռեկտորն է:

1999թ. պարգևատրվել է ՀՀ ԿԳ նախարարության ոսկե մեդալով:

2001թ. ՀՀ նկարիչների միության « Քրիստոնեությունը որպես պետական կրոն հռչակելու 1700 ամյակի» կապակցությամբ կազմակերպված հոբելյանական ցուցահանդեսում հովանավորությամբ Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնի ներկայացված աշխատանքների համար արժանացել է 1-ին մրցանակի:

2001թ. Հայաստանի Հանրապետության անկախության 10-ամյակի կապակցությամբ պարգևատրվել է Մովսես Խորենացու անվան մեդալով:

2002թ. դարձել է բնության և հասարակության մասին գիտությունների միջազգային ակադեմիայի իսկական անդամ, ակադեմիկոս:

2002թ.-ին ՀՀ արվեստի վաստակավոր գործչի կոչում է ստացել:

1976թ.-ից մասնակցել է բազմաթիվ խմբակային , այդ թվում նաև՝ միջազգային ցուցահանդեսների:

Ունեցել է անհատական ցուցահանդեսներ Հայաստանում, նաև արտասահմանում:

Aram Isabekyan was born on September 26, 1952 in Yerevan. From 1970 to 1976 he graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts and Theater, the department of fine arts with the specialty of painter-pedagogue. Through 1976-1977 he served in the soviet army. Beginning from 1979 he has been teaching in the same Institute. In 1990 was conferred the title of assistant professor and in 1992 the title of professor. Since 1982 he is a member of USSR Painters' (Artists') Union, as well as a member of UNESCO Professional Painters' International Union. Through 1993-1998 he has been the head of the department of Armenian painters' union. From 1990-1994 he has been the vice rector for education and science of Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts and Theater. Since 1994 till now he is the rector of Yerevan state academy of fine arts.

In 1999 he was awarded a golden medal of RA Ministry of Education and Science. 

In 2001 he was awarded the first prize for the represented works in the jubilee exhibition related to the "1700 anniversary of establishing Christianity as a state religion" organized by Artists' Union and supported by Mother See Holy Ejmiatsin.

In 2001 he was awarded a medal of Movses Khorenatsi at the 10^th anniversary of RA independence.

In 2002 he became the true member and academic of International academy of sciences on nature and public.

In 2002 he was conferred the title of honoured art worker.

Since 1976 has participated in numerous group exhibitions among them International ones.

He has had individual exhibitions in Armenia and in foreign countries as well.
