Design

YSAFA offers BA and MA programmes in Design on a full time basis. The programme aims to prepare highly qualified specialists to cover a broad range of market needs. In particular it prepares specialists for industry, environmental design (exterior, interior), creative-projection, advertising and other areas of design.  Such courses as composition, ergonomics, architectonics, bionics, drawing geometry, exterior-interior, projection and others are offered.

At MA level the programme enable the students to pursue advanced studies in the areas of history and philosophy of design, technology, urbanism, landscape, ecology, energy, conservation, art, design and the public domain, risk and resilience, and real estate.

Internships are organized in different fields of industry and private sector.

 

Applied Arts

The BA and MA programme in Applied Arts prepares highly qualified specialists for applied arts compositional creative as well as performing arts on a full time basis. The programme puts a special emphasis on development of such knowledge, skills ad competencies that enable free expression of ideas, critical and analytical thinking to come up with a variety of compositional solutions in practice. Alongside with it the students are introduced to the richness of techniques and technologies in applied arts, history of applied arts, its national origins and traditions as well as modern world experience.

 

Fashion Design

The BA and MA programmes in Fashion Design are offered on full time basis and aim at preparing specialists for a wide range on industries. The programme offers a challenging curriculum to enable variety of solutions to complex modelling problems, development of modelling projects in line with the new trends in contemporary fashion and high aesthetic taste, generation of compositional ideas and their fruition into real life. A great importance is attached to the history of national costume and trends in worldwide fashion development. The main courses offered evolve around composition, work with material, technology, designing, architectonics, national costume pattern, European outfit, etc.

At practical level, the programme offers a challenging internship and the achieved qualifications are presented to the public through fashion shows organized by students.

 

Art Computer Graphics

YSAFA offers BA and MA programmes in Art Computer Graphics on full time basis and aims at preparing highly qualified specialists with in-depth knowledge and skills in computer graphics, 3D graphics, WEB site projection and graphic programming, product packaging, firm styles design, computer advertisement, electronic business and other spheres.

The programme attaches a special emphasis on developing students’ aesthetic perceptions as well as their abilities to turn their ideas into computer projections. The challenging curricula enable students to learn how to make use of the variety of opportunities offered by modern automatic technologies in their compositional projections. Internships ensure students have the skills to actively involve in the day-to-day practice in different spheres of industry and private sector.

 

The chair of design was founded in 1964 in the academy. Later the chair of outfit modeling was joined.

Currently the chair prepares highly qualified specialists in “Design” with Bachelor (4 years) and Master (2 years) educational programmes for industry, environmental design (exterior, interior), advertising and other areas of design, creative-projection as well as for research. Study mode is full-time. The chair includes the following subjects: composition, ergonomics, and architectonics, bionics, drawing geometry, exterior-interior, prospection and others. Besides the main obligatory programme the students are given the opportunity to take some optional courses.

Design chair also carries out education on the specialty of “Outfit Modeling” with Bachelor (4 years) and Master (2 years) educational programmes. The students of this department learn to solve complex modeling problems, create projects of models in accordance with modern fashion and high aesthetic taste, to bring their compositional ideas into life by working with material. A great importance is given to the historical study of national costume and the tendencies of European fashion development. The main subjects taught for this specialty are: composition, work with material, technology, designing, architectonics, national costume pattern, European outfit, etc.

In the Master educational programme a special importance is devoted to developing students’ research abilities. The chair has laboratories and computer auditoriums with all the necessary equipments. Theoretical study is accompanied with internships. The best graduates from this department can continue their education in the PhD programme.

The chair carries out education on the following two specialties:

–        applied arts

–        fine arts computer projection

Potter’s art was chosen as a specialty from the branches of applied arts. The chair prepares highly qualified specialists for applied arts compositional creative as well as performing work with material in the 4-year Bachelor and 2-year Master programmes. Throughout the education a special attention is drawn to the development of abilities and skills for expressing students’ ideas with compositional solutions. Alongside with it the students are taught the techniques and technologies of applied arts, the history of applied arts, its national source and modern world experience are also being studied. The graduates get qualifications of Bachelor and Master of applied arts. The study mode is full-time.

The chair also prepares cadre with the specialty of “Fine arts computer projection” for computer graphics, 3D graphics, WEB site projection and graphic programming, product packaging, firm styles design, computer advertisement, electronic business and other spheres. Bachelor educational programme has 4 years’ duration and Master programme 2 years. At the teaching process of the subject “composition” the chair is focused on building and developing the students’ aesthetic perceptions as well as their abilities to turn their ideas into computer projections. In compliance with the specializations computer graphic programmes are also been taught. Students learn to make use of the opportunities offered by modern automatic technologies in their compositional projections. The projects carrying research purposes are of great importance in Master educational programmes.

The lecturers of the chair are engaged in creative activities in parallel with educational process.
