Zakar Demirtshyan

YSAFA (Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts) student Zakar Demirtshyan from Graphics department, who is an exchange student at this moment, continuing his education at Marseille School of Fine Arts, was announced the winner of the youth video contest “My European Friend and Me” organized within the frameworks of Europe Day celebration in Armenia.

On this occasion all the YSAFA students and staff congratulate Zakar Demirtshyan.

EU delegation in Armenia organized the celebration of “Europe Day” at Northern Avenue on May 12, 2012. The celebration launched with information fair giving an opportunity to get acquainted with European culture and EU-Armenia cooperation.

A separate information booth was allocated to National tempus office in Armenia to present Tempus and Erasmus Mundus programmes.

Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts was also introduced in the fair, in “Educational” booth. The following representatives were present at the event from YSAFA: Hovhannes Tajiryan, Naira Stepanyan, Ruzanna Hakobyan from International relations department and YSAFA lecturer Armen Hovhannisyan.

The latter made a presentation giving detailed information on the processes undertaken at YSAFA within the frameworks of Tempus programme referring to the field of art management and information technologies.

During the event the YSAFA representatives communicated mainly with students. They were given information on educational reforms actualized at YSAFA in the form of booklets, handbooks and brochures.

Parallel with the information fair traditional dance workshops, contests and games were organized.

The event was concluded with folk fusion and DJ party.

In the exhibition entitled “May 9^th, liberation of Shushi” dedicated to the 20^th anniversary of Shushi liberation all the works introduced had a poster character that declare about the warriors, victorious spirit of the nation, unity, the awakening and reanimation of Shushi.

Images, figures, scenes and textual, sometimes agitating slogans (“One nation, two states”, “Free of charge education: Free of charge medical aid: Let’s help the children of our heroes”, “The liberation of Shushi is the beginning of recreation process of Armenian State” “МЫ ЕДИНЫ”) were used in the works that reinforce visual impression and consciously perception.

This approach reflects the graphic design level of students’ works along with providing information and communication aspects as well.

It was not a mere chance for the students to introduce their works in the form of a poster in the exhibition about Artsakh war for the poster had been the most important style in the Soviet fine arts so as in the period of Great Patriotic war and through the years of civil war.

The theme for the talk was “The Spiritual in Art”.

Father Ruben introduced the Bible with every detail highlights and talked of the themes having their expression in world art.

The exhibition proved once again that the lecturers of the academy (YSAFA) are actively involved in nowadays creative life.

The participants were lecturers not only from elder generation but from middle-aged and younger generations as well.

A great number of people was gathered many of them watched with fascination and expressed their gratitude for this event.

Tatev Hartenyan’s works introduced in individual projects carry the moral of mystic women’s world.
The key to the emotional inner world of the painter is hidden in the floral abstractions. That is the history of dreams, love, yearn, light and dark, flight and landing, endless wait.

Woman and flowers: the connection string – nature. Works made with mixed techniques, due to their unique expression may become an invention in interior design and be used in the production of textures and posters.

Among the works made with fine colour solutions one can see abstractions with contrary colours. This is Tatev, tender and strong, dreamy and determined, yielding and struggling, but always very . . .

Araks Margaryan Candidate of Arts

The exhibition introduced the works of Lilit Arsenyan, Ashkhen Kurdyan, Hasmik Hovhannisyan, Manvel Ghalachyan, Aleksandr Badalyan and Vahagn Galstyan.

There were introduced their paintings, graphic, sculpture and ceramic works created throughout their study including the recent years. There was no clear- cut thematic direction: landscapes, portraits, still-life paintings and other works of different styles were introduced.
“Bright, vivid, with rich colour scale, full of inner warmness and emotionality, sometimes sweeping, and bearing in mind the expectations of light and creation”,-this is how we can describe the works of Lilit Arsenyan (“Feeling”, “Spring comes, come on”, “Repentance” “Eternity”, etc.)
Ashkhen Kurdyan’s works are original; they are outlined by their colour and style (“Nuri”, “To the eternity”, “In my dream”). She can paint like a child, keeping the purity and plainness.
Hasmik Hovhannisyan’s graphic works are different by their theme (“Dilijan”, “You exist or not”, “Daliakan Nikeh”, etc.). One can feel the sense of colour she painted and the great part of her paintings make an impression of engravings.
Each painting of Manvel Ghalachyan is a separate world where the painter expresses his philosophical attitude to human nature (“In my dream”, “By the destiny”, etc.). Vahan Galstyan’s (“The warrior of independence”, “Lilit”) and Aleksandr Badalyan’s (“Meeting”, “Komitas” and “Sunset”) sculptures and ceramic works are very original and interesting.

The exhibition was jointly organized by the UN Department of Public Information, Yerevan State Academy of Arts and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

On the occasion of this exhibition Maria Dotsenko, UN Department of Public Information Representative said: “This exhibition not only highlights how young generation understands the importance of biodiversity, but it also calls for actions to support the rich variety of flora and fauna in beautiful Armenia and on our planet. The doors of UN House are always open for pro-active young artists and activists.”
